Hm, It seems he wasn't kidding about being an Adventurer.

Lore Time: Elven Waymarkers are believed by archaeologists to represent the massive settlements the Elves had before the Great Flood wiped them out. The larger the Marker was, the bigger the settlement was. It's also believed that the Elves could've had a vast Empire that span the globe, as many of these Markers have been found in multiple countries. The theory is popular among the archaeology community, seeing that Elves are the second oldest race.

Intriguing and well crafted.

The first rule about Oldest Race Club is you don't talk about Oldest Race Club. Lest they awaken. Hoo boy.

Given stereotypical Elven behavior in general (as opposed to just this story), having them be the second oldest race is indeed a delicious explanation. Especially if the oldest race is either

1) Really Rare (giants?)
2) Really Common (humans)
3) Really unusual (Insect Men?)

The first and third mean the elves can pretend to be the "big brother" to every other race, but everyone knows someone else came before them. #2 is even more fun when Elvish origins tie directly to humans. About the only thing that would irk them more would be Orcs as the first (and progenitor) race. XD
